Basic Structure And Technological Characteristics Of Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (GRP/FRP) Pipe Winding Equipment

Fiberglass reinforced plastic (GRP/FRP) pipe winding equipment is the core equipment for manufacturing GRP/FRP pipes, widely used in water supply and drainage, chemical transportation, marine engineering, and environmental protection facilities. This equipment uses resin matrix and glass fiber as the main raw materials, and mechanically winds the fibers evenly onto the surface of a mandrel at a preset angle and number of layers. After curing, high-strength, corrosion-resistant pipe products are obtained. The technical level of this equipment directly affects the mechanical properties and service life of the product.

From a basic structural perspective, GRP/FRP pipe winding equipment mainly consists of a mandrel drive system, a fiber supply system, a resin supply and impregnation system, a winding motion control system, and a curing auxiliary device. The mandrel drive system is responsible for carrying and rotating the mandrel, and can achieve continuous rotation or reciprocating oscillation as needed to meet the generation of different winding patterns.

The fiber supply system consists of a yarn frame, a guide mechanism, and a tension control device, ensuring that the fibers maintain constant tension and neat arrangement during transportation, avoiding localized strength reduction due to uneven tension. The resin supply and impregnation system, through an impregnation tank or spraying device, ensures the fibers are fully impregnated with the resin matrix, controlling the resin content and uniformity of distribution. This is crucial for the pipe's density and corrosion resistance.

The winding motion control system is the core of the equipment. Utilizing CNC technology or a programmable logic controller (PLC), it precisely coordinates the mandrel rotation speed, carriage travel speed, and fiber arrangement trajectory to achieve helical winding, circumferential winding, and a combination of both. This allows for optimal fiber distribution and stress-bearing structure under different pipe diameters and pressure ratings. The curing auxiliary device allows for room temperature curing or heated curing depending on the process, and works in conjunction with a circulating cooling system to control the temperature rise rate, preventing uneven resin curing or internal stress defects.

In terms of process characteristics, this equipment enables continuous production with a high degree of automation, effectively reducing manual intervention and material waste. By precisely controlling the fiber angle and number of layers, the strength and stiffness of the pipe can be customized for different operating conditions. Simultaneously, the production process is well-sealed, reducing volatile organic compound emissions and meeting green manufacturing requirements. With the development of intelligent manufacturing technology, some equipment has integrated online monitoring and data acquisition functions, providing support for quality traceability and process optimization. Overall, fiberglass pipe winding equipment, with its high precision, high efficiency and good adaptability, has become an important basic equipment for promoting the industrialization of composite material pipes.
