Analysis of the Composition and Characteristics of Main Materials in Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (GRP/FRP) Pipe Winding Equipment

As the core equipment in composite material pipe manufacturing, the performance and durability of GRP/FRP pipe winding equipment largely depend on the main materials used. The equipment operates under long-term mechanical loads, chemical corrosion, and thermal cycling; therefore, material selection must consider strength, corrosion resistance, dimensional stability, and processability to ensure high precision and reliability in diverse production environments.

The main structural components are mostly made of high-quality carbon structural steel or low-alloy high-strength steel. These steels possess excellent comprehensive mechanical properties, and their yield strength and fatigue resistance can meet the load requirements of high-speed rotation and reciprocating motion. To enhance atmospheric resistance and corrosion resistance, the surface is often coated with hot-dip galvanizing or epoxy anti-corrosion coating, and some critical parts are also covered with stainless steel to resist the corrosion of resin volatiles or cleaning agents.

The requirements for materials in transmission and load-bearing components are even more stringent. Gears, bearing housings, and spindles are made of tempered alloy steel, which, after quenching and tempering, achieves an excellent balance of strength and toughness, maintaining dimensional stability and wear resistance under high loads and frequent start-stop conditions. Sliding guides and lead screws are mostly made of surface-hardened medium carbon steel or alloy tool steel, supplemented by precision grinding to ensure motion accuracy and wear life.

Contact components of the fiber and resin supply system must consider chemical corrosion resistance and ease of cleaning. Impregnation tanks, guide rollers, and pipelines are commonly made of 304 or 316 stainless steel; the former can withstand most organic resins and ambient moisture, while the latter is more advantageous in strong acid and alkali environments. For parts containing active solvents such as styrene in the resin, polytetrafluoroethylene or modified engineering plastics are used as linings to reduce the risk of swelling and aging.

The housings and supports of electrical and control systems are generally made of aluminum alloy or stainless steel profiles, combining lightweight design and electromagnetic shielding performance, while also facilitating the fabrication of complex structures to accommodate the layout of sensors and drive units. Internal wiring terminals and connectors are primarily made of flame-retardant, high-temperature-resistant reinforced nylon or polycarbonate materials to ensure insulation and fire safety in workshop environments.

In summary, the main material system of GRP/FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) pipe winding equipment consists of structural steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and engineering plastics, each playing a key role in mechanical load-bearing, corrosion resistance, precision maintenance, and insulation protection, respectively. Scientific and reasonable material selection and surface treatment processes are crucial foundations for ensuring long-term stable operation and high-precision winding operations.
